The ALC Early Career Grants create an opportunity for people who are relatively new to the professions of landscape architecture, garden design, architecture, horticulture, landscape construction, or related fields to attend the two-day Australian Landscape Conference 2027 (ALC27) taking place in Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 11-13 March 2027.
The Grant provides eligible early career professionals and full-time students (from third year onwards) with a registration to both days of the conference. The funding makes the ALC a reality for carefully selected recipients who otherwise may not be in a position to afford it.
As an ALC supporter, you understand the profound impact this conference can have on a young professional’s thinking, confidence, and future direction. Your support may help give a rising star the head start they need, or encourage someone to remain in the profession at a time when that encouragement matters most.
The ALC is a truly unique event in Australia, and there are only a small number of conferences worldwide that bring together such an international digest of speakers and participants. Over the past 30 years, it has earned a strong reputation as an insightful, inspiring and compelling forum for contemporary ideas in landscape design.
In supporting their attendance, this program helps plant a seed and invest in the next generation of industry professionals.
How the Early Career Grants Work
Eligible individuals are invited to apply through an Expression of Interest (EoI) process, where they submit a short summary about themselves and why they would like to attend.
Eligibility includes individuals who are either full-time students (in third or fourth year) or who have been working in landscape architecture, garden design, architecture, horticulture, landscape construction, or related fields for between two and ten years.
Selection Process
Early career participants are selected through a competitive process. Applicants submit an Expression of Interest outlining their background and reasons for wanting to attend. Applications are then assessed by a group of landscape design professionals, who collectively select and offer places to successful applicants. The number of grants awarded aligns with the number of sponsored positions available.

In 2025, the ALC was able to offer 45 Early Career places.
